It's More Than Just Sports.

Sports is more than just recreation. It Binds, It Breaks. It is both a kind and harsh teacher. It Brings Joy and Sadness. Celebrate in Victory and in Defeat. It's a part of our life. Let's Celebrate it.

TACKLING

Updated: Jan 31, 2019

The Set-up:

Legs bent, low body position, body leaning forward with back straight, arms in a T-Rex like shape pointing ahead and very key, Eyes on target.

The Hit:

As target approaches, lead with shoulder to hit the thigh, wrap arms and plant cheek onto target butt cheek. Squeeze and leg drive to bring target to the ground.

The Finish:

Release and Roll away. Win back the ball or back to the set-up.

Tackling begins at 8 years old

Do it right…..BOOM! Call yourself Brian Lima. A hit done so well that even the crowd can feel it.

As long as the opponent has the ball, you tackle, hit the ground and get up again. The play doesn't stop. It’s Unlike some other contact sport, where play stops and You get time to whoop, cheer and catch the replay on the jumbotron.

The Mental Resolve:

Get up and get ready for the next one.

Find the gaps, step into it and go into the set-up. It’s not 1 good tackle you need to make but several over and over again. If you are found wanting, that ball carrier is going to come your way again…and again. All the training and fitness is nothing without mental resolve.

Tackling is a Grind. It's usually the ball carrier that has the advantage. You put your best effort in and hope it all works out.

The fundamentals of attack is find the weak link and attack it. In a game of size matters, I was the little guy. So the other team kept me very busy by sending their ball carriers my way. It was a grind. Tested Physically and Mentally.

"They keep coming your way. Probably saw you as the weak link."

Miran, in the backline with me at center. I played Stand-off. Penang 10s Tournament. Veterans Category 2017.

All you can do is Hang on (me). Slow him down for support to finish the job (Miran, my brother). Battle for 3rd place. Legends Rocked Penang.

"Christmas Came Early I guess"

My response. Presents came in form of Big Ball Carriers. By the looks of it, I accepted it graciously.
